Te Wairere Ruby Red Devons

Welcome to Te Wairere Ruby Red Devon Stud -
We established the Farm in 2002 in Northland, near the Waipu Glowworm Caves on 75 acres in real Limestone country with 10 dairy crossbred heifers and a Red Devon/Hereford cross bull.

In 2005 we purchased 3 Registered cows and later in 2006 a further 3 Registered cows
(in calf to Woodburn Jackson) and a good looking Registered yearling Bull,
(Te Wai-iti 564/05 son of Kaurivale 11/95) from Dick and Alison Pegram, owners of the successful Te Wai-iti Stud (#0900) in Whangarei. (Ex President of the N.Z. Association and The Northland Breeders Club).

After 8 yrs on the coastal ridge overlooking Ruakaka, One Tree Point and the Whangarei Heads 6 yrs ago we purshased another bare block, built another house with sheds, yards and new fences, with associated infrastructure, then moved our herd to their new home near the Kaipara Harbour, 10 kms west of Wellsford at Port Albert.

We farm 35 acres of grass (50% Kikuyu, 50% rye and clovers) 0n clay over lime, as before, with 14 Registered cows and heifers, 5 Red Devon cross heifers, 3 Registered Bulls, (10yrs, 4 yrs and 2 yrs old) and calves.

Our 2 and 3 yr olds are due to start calving on October 29 2016.

Our aim is to maintain the attributes of the quality stock we purchased from the Pegrams, promoting their docile temperament, maternal instinct, easy calving, good growth rates, length and dark colour, to our local farming community.
